Contribution Towards Sustainable Environment

Environmental sustainability is the ability to maintain the qualities that are valued in the physical environment.

Environmental sustainability refers to the capacity to preserve the valued qualities of the natural environment. When there is a risk of significant or irreversible loss of these qualities, sustainability concerns emerge, necessitating immediate action to address them.

Chronic Kidney Disease of uncertain ethology has become a widespread issue in the Dry Zone of Sri Lanka, with its underlying causes remaining unclear. However, there are various contributing factors, including high levels of agrochemicals and hard water containing excessive Calcium and Fluoride and the presence or absence of specific chemical compounds (e.g., high levels of Arsenic and Cadmium, low levels of Selenium).

  • High levels of Calcium and fluoride in the water
  • Presence of Agrochemicals residues in humans
  • Excessive and indiscriminate use of agrochemicals

To promote a healthier Sri Lanka, establishing the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Disease of uncertain aetiology was initiated in response to the spread of Chronic Kidney Disease in 10 districts. The primary objective of this task force is to manage and prevent the further spread of Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown aetiology (CKDU) through the coordination of relevant authorities and the implementation of awareness, preventive, and welfare measures for the benefit of affected communities. This initiative was prompted by the interest of His Excellency the President.

The Group centralises some services to pool resources and expertise and boost growth. To provide strong leadership for future managers, the Group invests in senior management training, top performer development plans, and Knowledge Base Associates (Pvt.) Ltd. accreditation.

Ltd.

This has resulted in the building of a pool of resources in diverse fields within the group. Functioning through centralized services also enhances the potential expertise of the respective disciplines most effectively by providing a valuable impetus to the group's growth and expansion.

Strong leadership is the central attribute to attaining our aim of becoming a globally competitive market leader. Knowing this fact well, upon the invitation of the group, Knowledge Base Associates-Corporate Trainers conducted a leadership program for the senior management of the group to improve their skills in the disciplines of leadership and effective management.

This initiative was coupled with the creation of development plans for top performers backed by individual assessment and accredited business training. We continue our journey towards leadership development with Knowledge Base Associates (Pvt.) Ltd. The current leaders, who empowered the initiative of Knowledge Base Associates (Pvt.) Ltd., will set the tone for the future managers of the group.
